For International Medical student Clinical Elective

Being able to participate in a Clinical Elective at a hospital abroad can enhance one's experience and provide insight into the diversity of patient care and hospital resource management systems. The Division of Urology, Rajavithi Hospital, recognizes the importance of this, and therefore has established this elective for the benefit of medical students worldwide.

Division of Urology, Rajavithi hospital (Bangkok, Thailand) has been training residents in Urological Surgery for over 40 years, with more than 100 graduates who have become specialists in this field.

There are 'Urological Educational Conferences', held every morning before surgery/IPD/OPD rotation for improve the Urological knownledge. The conference is conducted in both Thai and English (although this may be subject to change).

There are all kind of Urological surgical procedures at Division of Urology include Open Surgery, Endo-urology, Video Urodynamic study (VUDS), Laparoscopic Surgery, and Robotic Surgery (using the Da Vinci Xi system).

For international medical students interested in the 'Visiting International Elective Program in Urology', opportunities are available to observe or assist surgeries, assist with inpatient and outpatient care, and participate in the conferences.

Location : Rajavithi Hospital is conveniently located in the central area of Bangkok, with the Victory Monument BTS station right next to the hospital, making it easy to travel around the city.

Schedule and Duration of program : Dependent on the individual's free elective schedule.

Working days : Monday to Friday (with weekends and Thai public holidays off)

Study/Elective Fee : None.

Uniform : You may wear your work outfit or a scrub (preferred). If you usually wear private clothes and change into the hospital’s scrub, it’s recommended to wear appropriate private clothes (shirt, long pants, and closed-toe shoes or sneakers) for your elective training.
Operation scrubs are available for change before entering the operating room.
It is also recommended to bring a long white gown for use during your work.

Accommodation : Limited dormitory spaces are available (with accommodation fee/month), but the available details will be provided once accepted into the program. However, there are many short-term rental options available surrounding nearby the hospital.

Attention!!! : Please contact us at least 8-12 weeks prior to the start date of the elective for document processing.
Additionally, foreign nationals from certain countries may need to prepare documents for Thailand visa applications.
